Burton SC at Foremark Reservoir is holding a Discover Sailing Windsurfing or Paddleboarding Open Day on the 18th April 2026 from 10AM to 4PM.
This is an excellent way to find out if you like sailing or windsufing before joining as a club member and booking on one of our RYA Dinghy or Windsurfing courses to teach you to become a competent sailor. Our Discover Sailing Sessions provide you with the ideal opportunity to try out sailing whether your aspirations are as a relaxing hobby or to become a keen racer.
During a sailing session you will get a taste of the basics of sailing. You will experience dinghy sailing with an experienced sailor to show you the ropes. This session will give you the chance to crew and control the jib (the front sail).
During the windsurfing session you will get to go on a land based simulator as well as venturing out onto the water and trying it for real on a stable board with a smallish sail under the guidance of experienced windsurfers and instructors.
Whether you are sailing for the first time, or sailing again after a break, you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome. Our Discover Sailing Open Day coincides with the RYA Discover Sailing Promotion and is completely free. The ideal introduction to sailing, windsurfing or paddleboarding and offers an informal, yet structured opportunity to have a go and discover the joy and excitement of the three sports.
