Windsurfing Courses

The Start Windsurfing course provides an introduction to the sport of windsurfing which will teach you the fundamentals to get you up and sailing around.  This course is suitable for complete beginners. There are no pre-requisites to this course other than being confident in water.

The course comprises a mix of on-land demonstrations and simulator practice, on-water coaching and some classroom theory.

You will learn about the windsurfing equipment, how to sail across the wind, upwind and downwind and turn around.

This is a two-day course, usually run over either a whole weekend or two consecutive Saturdays - see course dates below.

Minimum age: 8 years old. (Adults and children welcome.)

Prerequisites: Confident swimmers

What to Bring: All you need to bring is an old pair of trainers that you don’t mind getting wet, suitable clothing for standing outside in, a towel and swimwear. Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and equipment hire is included. Further information will be provided on booking.

Assumed knowledge: RYA Start Windsurfing

Minimum duration: 8-10 hours on the water

Minimum age: None

Content: New techniques including the beachstart and harness work. Beach starting and carve gybing are taught on this course or as a separate clinic tailored to your needs

Ability afterwards: Able to sail on all points of sailing in stronger winds, using beachstarts and faster tacking and gybing
