Participation includes racing, cruising, attending or delivering training or coaching, safety or race officer duties, working parties and attending to Club business, maintenance of equipment (including both Club and personal equipment and boats) and racing at any event under the Club Burgee.

We rely on our adult members completing the minimum number of duties per year to support the running of activities. You can choose the most suitable dates for yourself by allocating your own duties via the website Duty and Galley calendars. Or you can leave the allocation of your duties to the Sailing Committee. Any member who is not allocated to the required number of duties by the end of April will be automatically allocated to empty duty slots in the calendar. Opting out of duties must be agreed with the Commodore, if you wish to opt out, please still make a selection from the below and email the commodore at commodore@burtonsailingclub.co.uk with your reasons.

All membership information will be used solely in connection with your membership of Burton Sailing Club. It will not be shared with any third party for marketing or commercial purposes. Certain data concerning the Members as a group will be shared with the RYA for statistical purposes, but this will not include data on individuals.
As an accredited Training Centre and in compliance with legal and other registration requirements, the Club retains data, including personally sensitive information, on Instructors and other relevant volunteers.
Access to all data held by the Club is physically restricted to those requiring such information to enable them to fulfil their roles within the Club management structure.
All data will be stored and used in accordance with our Data Privacy Policy, which can be found on the Club website.
The Club may share Members’ contact details with other Members for the purposes of arranging sailing opportunities. Please register all craft that you intend to use at Foremark, whether berthed at Foremark or not, and confirm the craft is insured for third party liability to the sum of at least £3million.
For non-sailing members storing boats in the dinghy park, the full boat storage fee is required. The discounted storage fee is available for registered sailing members; i.e. members of the ordinary, family, junior and student categories. Each boat storage fee includes one road trailer; additional trailers incur an additional fee.
Board storage is only available to members. Storage spaces are limited and will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis. Any unregistered boards will be removed.
Please indicate any storage requirements you have. We will confirm whether there is space available to meet your requirements, and adjust the membership cost accordingly.
