Pink Sailing - now on Facebook!

Written by
Pink Sailing was conceived and launched in 2012 as an opportunity for ladies who had either never set foot in a dinghy or else spent some time crewing for their other half but would really like to discover a bit more about their personal abilities. The ladies meet at the clubhouse on a Thursday evening around 6pm from springtime (as soon as the weather is reasonable) through summer. There is a great sense of camaraderie and encouragement - they even have their own team strip and Pink Commodore! The Pink Sailors now have their own Facebook group to keep up…

Important Message From The Commodore

Written by
Members may have seen an over dramatized and misleading article in the Burton Daily Mail this week about the Training Centre. The true picture is:  ·         The planning approval granted in November last year left several matters to be decided during the build phase. This is not unusual, especially in a leading edge design; ·         We moved forward with the build not because of concerns over the grant but because we wanted the Centre to be ready for the new training season. Competing in the older age category this time, Tom lost out to older (and much taller)competition but acquitted himself well.  Thanks to Steve and Alex for their support in preparing for the competition.  The final will be at the Boat Show in Southampton in September

Experience all this one design class has to offer.     If you have ever sat on shore or seen one of these fleet boats racing down on you, then you may have wondered what they are like to ride in.  On July the 20th from 13:00 to 17:00 it is your chance to find out.  The fleet members are taking time off work and Saturday jobs to roll out a unique opportunity to experience 65 years of technical and innovative development.    How?  Well this fantastic opportunity to time travel is due to the makeup of this long life…

Vintage National 12 Open Event 29/30 June

Written by
We are hosting a vintage National 12 open on the weekend of 29/30 June 2013. This should be an interesting event to come and see some classic boats sailed by classic sailors (some younger than the boats themselves ;) ).  Boats competing will be of a wooden clinker or ribbed wood construction with no foiled rudders or trim tab centreboards without double floors without carbon masts (carbon booms are allowed) There will be a BBQ in the evening and a slide show and there are a good nuber of boats registered to compete. Club members note this is not closed water…
