Welcome to the Burton Sailing Club website

We are a fun, family club that provides a vast range of activities from training for beginners to regular racing, windsurfing and offshore sailing.

We enjoy excellent sailing facilities at Foremark Reservoir amidst the dramatic Derbyshire countryside, in the heart of the National Forest within easy reach of Derby, Nottingham, Burton, Leicester and Loughborough.

Interclub 2016

The interclub is to be held at Staunton this year on Sunday 29th May.   Schedule Briefing 11:00 1st Race 11:30 Lunch 12:30 2nd Race 13:30 3rd Race  after 2nd Prize Giving 17:00   Hot food and snacks available. Entry restricted to paid up members of Staunton,   Swarkestone or Burton sailing clubs and includes flying 15 keelboats. Entry is free. Prizes for first 3 individual places in the personal race series plus overall Interclub Trophy.

Push The Boat Out - Saturday 14th May

Burton SC will be holding its annual open day on Saturday 14th May (10am-4pm) as part of the RYA Push The Boat Out week. We will be offering sailing taster sessions with our experienced sailors and instructors in dinghies/keelboats, as well as windsurfing taster sessions and powerboat rides. You will have the opportunity to look around our facilities, including our clubhouse, training centre and grounds. DYS Training - 5th March 2016

On 5th March, Burton SC hosted Derbyshire Youth Sailing (DYS) in their final training session in preparation for NSSA Double Handed Team Racing event taking place at Farmoor Reservoir on the 19th March. The training event was led by James Hadden (Swarkestone SC and Team GBR Podium Potential Finn sailor), and Zac Bermon and Michael Marshall from Loughborough University. This training event built upon the learning from the previous training event where the sailors gained experience sailing Firefly dinghies in teams of two boats, and started learning team racing tactics. An £8,500 windsurfing investment at Burton Sailing Club is helping the sport make a comeback at Foremark Reservoir thanks to the support of BT Sport Relief Challenge: Hell on High Seas skipper and double Olympic silver medalist sailor, Ian Walker. Read more about it on the RYA website here.

Fitting Out Supper - Friday 4th March

Friday 4th March 2016 Mickelover Golf Club Three course meal, followed by after dinner tea/coffee. Menu choices are below. (More vegetarian options available on request.) £16 per person. DYS Learning Events

On Saturday 23rd January Burton SC hosted a Supported Learning event organised by Derbyshire Youth Sailing (DYS). Ten sailors from across a number of the Derbyshire sailing clubs, including four BSC Youth Academy sailors, were coached by four experienced DYS sailors. The day started with some warm up exercises and a run around the club for the Topper sailors and boat rigging for the Laser sailors.
