We are hosting a vintage National 12 open on the weekend of 29/30 June 2013. This should be an interesting event to come and see some classic boats sailed by classic sailors (some younger than the boats themselves ;) ). Boats competing will be
There will be a BBQ in the evening and a slide show and there are a good nuber of boats registered to compete.
Club members note this is not closed water and sailing is allowed both days and club Sunday series racing will take place.
The 2013 Novice Champs held on 8th June met with a cool North Eastery force 2-3 wind. These were ideal conditions which led to some keen racing and great fun. It also meant the start and finish line was conveniently close to the dinghy park.
The race officer chose to pack in 5 short 30 minute duration races using a simple traingle course. Two back to back races were held in the morning and after a lunch break a further three back to back races followed.
For a novice race the standard of the competition was very high. The fleet obviously heeded the advice of the race officer "to stay near the start line once the start sequence begins" as the standard of the starts were fantastic.
There was a healthy turnout of some 13 boats for the event.
The results can be found here.
Photos from the day can be found here.
The Novice Championship will be held this Saturday 8th June 2013. This is open to all club members who have recently learnt to sail either on a course or otherwise. The format will be several short informal races each one not lasting more than 30 minutes. The event will start with a briefing at around 10:30 where the format for the day will be laid out. The first race will be around 11:00 and we will try to get a couple of races in before lunch.
The caterers will be here for refreshments and lunch (please support the caterers).
After lunch we will have some more short races followed by the prize giving.
Please come along and take part it should be good fun.

After the fatefull day where the roof blew off, the committee boat has been undergoing extensive repairs by a dedicated team of club members for the last few months. The boat was relaunched on the Beach Bum weekend and you will agree from the photos what a fantastic job they have done. Many Many thanks to the team who pulled this off, Race officers are now back in the lap of luxury when running racing. It was also just in time for the busy September where we are hosting Topper traveller, Derbyshire Youth, K1 Nationals and 420 Inlands open events.
