What a fantastic start to the sailing year we have had here at Burton Sailing Club!

Firstly 'Congratulations' to our young windsurfers and youth academy sailors.

Some very cold winter training has finally paid off with our windsurfers taking podium positions in some major events early in the season. You really are an inspiration to those around you and great ambassadors for Burton sailing Club.  A couple of our young sailors have also stepped up to the challenge this  year, competing in their first ever competitive DYS event!  Well done to you all, we wish you the very best of luck for the rest of the season!

A very successful **PUSH THE BOAT OUT ** open day  Click here for more info has lead to a number of new members joining our club and our summer 'start sailing' course could have been filled twice over!!! We are looking at putting on further development training courses later in the year for our newer sailors. Watch this space!

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new members. We hope that you enjoy your time at Burton Sailing Club as much as we do! Carl Avery is the club representative for all new members, so if there is anything that you need help with or if you want to know anything at all about the club then please just ask. You will usually find him hovering around the bar after sailing!

We are planning to host a few **GET BACK ON THE WATER** sessions for anyone that has sailed in the past and would like to get back in to sailing. Maybe you used to sail at university, are new to the area or have been a club member elsewhere and are looking for a new club to join. Maybe you were a member of our club and just 'got out of the habit of sailing' Whatever your reason, we would love you to pop down to the club, have a chat, take a look around and get out on the water either as a helm or crew and see if Burton Sailing Club is the club for you! we shall be offering discounted membership packages for new members and their families for the remainder of the season. Whether you are a seasoned racer or a comfortable cruiser, you will be offered a very warm welcome! More details will follow shortly!

We have had a few members change class and also a  few new sailors joining in our Wednesday and Sunday races series, this has lead to some very close and competitive racing with top positions changing frequently! Its great to see such a healthy, competitive spirit and lots of great 'banter' within our club.

This year, we seem to have a few more 'travellers' at the club than we have seen in recent years, with quite a few of our members taking to the road to compete in regional and national events. Its great to see photographs and reports of club members on their travels so please keep them coming!

We are very much looking forward to the **CHARNWOOD SCOUTS** event this summer. Preparations are well underway but we really could do with ALL OF THE HELP THAT WE CAN GET! so if you can offer any help whatsoever (however small) please speak to our Commodore 'Martin Nelson' and he will be more than happy to have you on board.

**CLUB KIT** Its great to see so many members wearing club logo'd kit around the club. The latest order should be with us shortly. Carl Avery has been putting together orders so if you cant be bothered to order for yourself just let him know what you would like (order forms are on the club notice board) or just drop him a message and he will sort you order out for you.

Finally!. We have started preparations for this years ***CLUB REGATTA*** which will take place on Saturday 31st August. There will be lots of racing, lots of fun and of course the usual great "Burton Sailing Club' atmosphere. Individual time on the water will be fairly short  so we hope that you will come along with your family and friends and have a fantastic time on and off the water. The regatta is for the whole club, so there will be activities for our winsurfers, our juniors, our novice sailors as well as our top flight racers so please come along and support us if you can.. Full details and schedule will follow shortly!
